Charles “CBT” Brooke-Taylor does both.
A defensive line specialist, a coach, and now a Sealand Seahawks Legend, CBT represents the evolution of what this team is all about, players who don’t just compete, but build, teach, and push the game forward under the banner of the Principality of Sealand.
Built in the Trenches
CBT’s football journey starts where all great defensive stories do, the trenches.
At Swansea University Titans, he developed as a defensive lineman from 2012 to 2016 before stepping into a dual role as player-coach. That early transition says a lot: leadership wasn’t something that came later, it was always there.
From there, he continued to build his game and reputation across UK American football:
- Leicester Falcons (DL Player)
- Leicester Panthers (DL Player → Coach → Defensive Coordinator)
And that progression wasn’t just steady, it was dominant.
By 2025, as Defensive Coordinator for the Leicester Panthers, CBT helped lead a statement 10–0 season.
That’s not luck. That’s system, preparation, and serious defensive understanding.
From Recommendation to Representation
Like many Sealand journeys, CBT’s introduction didn’t come through a formal pathway.
It started with someone recognising something.
A friend at Leicester put his name forward for international tryouts and that opened the door to the Sealand Seahawks.
From there?
It clicked quickly.
Because when players and coaches who understand the game step into the Sealand environment, they tend to find exactly what they’re looking for:

Vegas, Whiteboards, and Defensive Battles
One of CBT’s standout Seahawks moments didn’t come from a stat line.
It came from a huddle.
Coaching the defensive line in Las Vegas, working through how to stop the run, players gathered around, ideas flying, adjustments being made in real time, that’s where he thrives.
That’s football at its purest:
- Problem solving
- Shared understanding
- Collective effort
And then there’s the other side of it, the tryout sessions.
Where bonds are formed quickly in the trenches, where respect is earned snap by snap, and where teammates become something more.
Coaching Mindset, Global Stage
CBT doesn’t just see the Sealand Seahawks as a team, he sees potential.

A “unique entity” that’s already part of conversations about where international American football could go next.
And his vision?
