Sealand Covid-19 Response

Sealand Covid-19 Response
Notizie di Sealand

Microscopic invaders pose new challenges to Sealand's independence. Thanks for all of your support and concern over the last year. Here are some of your most frequently asked questions:

How many cases of COVID-19 have been reported on Sealand?
We are fortunate to report that at the time of writing, we have had zero reported cases of COVID-19. We understand that this places us in a small group of 13 countries with zero cases, all of which are small island nations.

When will the Sealand population be vaccinated?
We are lobbying the World Health Organisation, as well as the United Nations in order to secure vaccinations for all of our citizens. With their cooperation, we hope to begin offering vaccinations against COVID-19 as soon as possible.

What is life like on Sealand during the COVID-19 Pandemic?
Being a small island nation with strict immigration control has truly benefitted the people of Sealand during this period, as once out of a mandatory 10-day quarantine following arrival, Sealanders are free to go about their daily activities unencumbered, and in many ways have enjoyed a greater quality of life than many neighbouring countries throughout the pandemic.

How do we safely resupply Sealand during the pandemic?
Supplies are shipped to Sealand by boat. Once hoisted onto the fortress, supplies are quarantined outside in the elements for a minimum of 72 hours to naturally disinfect. Following this, all supplies are cleaned using disinfectant wipes, before entering any inside space, ready for consumption. As part of our standard procedure, we hold a large supply of stores in case of an event such as a severe storm preventing access to supply channels.

What does this mean for the re-development of fortress Island?
Further development work to the fortress was planned for the summer/autumn of 2020. This work was pushed back to the spring of 2021. As the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic is still very much fluid, we have taken the decision not to reconvene any development work until our population has been vaccinated to a safe level.
