Description

Announcement Highlight

The Treasury of the Principality of Sealand is thrilled to unveil a special edition of 271 gold-plated silver commemorative coins, celebrating the 70th birthday of Sovereign Prince Michael. This release honours his legacy and contributions as Sealand's sole Sovereign ruler since 2016, marking a unique moment in our principality's history.

Unique Exclusive Features

For the first time, the Treasury introduces coins with pure 24-carat gold plating, featuring a new effigy of Prince Michael, capturing the essence of his leadership and the spirit of Sealand. This edition is a testament to innovation and tradition, blending high-quality silver with exquisite gold detailing.

The finish or proof strike is achieved with multiple strikes at the point of minting, the final stage is the pure gold plating which is applied after careful inspection of each coin. Prince Michael's 70th Birthday coin is the first time the Treasury has issued gold-plated commemorative coins. The individual numbering of each coin is applied by laser-etching onto the edge, which is a security feature on all of Sealand's commemorative coins.

These coins also mark a premiere by depicting Sealand's geographical coordinates, inviting coin enthusiasts and new supporters alike to discover the location and significance of the world's only man-made principality.

Design Excellence

The coin's design, by Michael Alexander, showcases a blend of the principality's heritage and the Sovereign Prince's journey. With the obverse side presenting a new portrait of Prince Michael and the reverse side featuring Sealand's crest and a 70th birthday insignia, each coin is a piece of art and history.
