Freedom Isn’t Granted , It’s Claimed

Last week my father, Prince Michael, and I travelled to Prague to give a speech at the Free Cities Foundation Conference, a gathering of people building the future of free societies.

Our talk, “Make Sealand Great Again: Story of the World’s Smallest Country,” shared how one family’s stand for independence became a 60-year story of self-determination & what comes next.

“Long before people could vote with their feet, my family did exactly that.”

What We Covered

  • The fight for free airwaves: how my Grandfather, Prince Roy's time as a 'Radio Pirate' lead to the founding of Sealand

  • The 1967 declaration: Founding the Principality of Sealand with its own flag, passports, constitution, and coat of arms.

  • Battles for sovereignty: from armed invasions to the 1968 UK court ruling confirming Britain had no jurisdiction, and the 1978 coup d’état that cemented Sealand’s independence.

  • Sealand 2.0: a first look at the next phase: digital nation-building, E-Citizenship, and blockchain-based governance for a new generation of freedom-builders.

It is clear from your comment that you have yet to grasp the spirit of E Mare Libertas and the uniqueness of our history. Much like many who show deference to the royals in public but speak disparagingly in private, referring to them as “squatters,” such remarks are truly shameful.

Issuing passports is irrelevant when our IDs are not recognized for border crossings. Such documents carry the potential for misuse, posing risks to our nation. Our priority should be strengthening citizenship cards and fostering a community centred on self-determination.

May all have a peaceful moment and a song in your heart, may the promise of a good nature a kind and gentle disposition be properly positioned within you except in sports, show up bravely! I can only hope the spread of saving Marine life continues through rubbish removal everywhere. That all continue to set that good will example for others to follow.
Continued success to everyone.

‘Make Sealand Great Again’? Really? An awful catchphrase borrowed from that bin-fire of a country, America? C’mon guys…since when wasn’t Sealand great already?
